Is it safe to travel to Iran?
According to Travel Risk Map 2019 reported by International SOS, Iran is as safe as many other developed countries. But in some regions especially near the borders, there is always some risk.
Owing to political conflicts, we suggest people who have worked in military or intelligent services in USA, the UK, Australia, and Canada, make sure about their safety before traveling to Iran.
How to get an Iranian visa?
To get your visa to Iran, you must provide a premier itinerary to give it to a travel agency. The itinerary is changeable (except for Americans) so you can write a simple plan. The service fee varies from $30 to $70, depending on your nationality and/or the duration to get it. You can apply for it online and you don't need to go to Iran's embassy. You can stay in the country for a month with a tourist visa and also you can extend it up to three months.
What should we wear in public?
Women in public must have Hijab, it means they must wear clothes which can cover their hair like scarfs, and their body. Wearing Chador is not obligatory except in religious places like mosques and shrines. Men can't appear in public with shorts.
Is drinking alcohol allowed?
No, drinking alcohol is prohibited. But don't get surprised if people do.
Do we have to get a travel insurance?
Yes, you need to have an insurance to enter the country, but you can get an Iranian insurance as well, and it is recommended.
Is it possible to see all the Iran's highlights in one tour?
No, it's not. Iran is a vast and ancient country with lots to see. Many people would like to visit all the highlights during one tour, but we do not recommend. Every part of Iran has its own time to visit.
How does hitchhiking work in Iran?
Hitchhiking is not a common way to travel in Iran and we do not recommend it, though there have been many solo travelers who have done it and they were so happy with it.
The rate of transportation in Iran is not too extravagant and you can easily transport. If you are traveling with an economic budget, you should take public/shared taxis which are much cheaper than charter taxis, but you definitely need a map. The other way is using apps like Snapp (Iranian version of Uber).
How to get Iranian currencies? Which one, Rial or Toman?
You don't need to bring Iranian currency with yourself. It's very easy to exchange USD or Euro to Rial in Iran. If you arrive in IKA (Imam Khomaini Airport), you can exchange your money there. Otherwise you can easily find places to exchange in big cities with good rates.
Some people get confused by the name of the currency. Rial and Toman both are the names of the same currency, just to make it easier people use Toman, but officially Rial is used. Each Toman equals ten Rials.
